Contentment is a state of happiness and satisfaction. But today, it is difficult to see anyone who is truly satisfied with their condition.
While there is nothing wrong with the desire to make more money, have plenty properties, have a good paying job and live a better life, there is everything wrong with trying to satisfy these desires the wrong way.
I have been thinking a lot lately about why there is so much quarrelling, hatred, anger, back biting, robbery and even murder amongst us. While I think that there might be many other reasons that can lead to these actions, one major reason that I know of is greed. We want what others have and we want it by all means.
While it is possible for you to like other successful people or even better, it is important for you to know that most of these successful people paid a price for their success. They paid the price of determination, dedication, handwork and prayer among others.
These days people desire what some other people have and instead of trying to find out how these people got the things they have, or even seek counsel from them directly, they begin to gossip, back bite, and cause grievous quarrels. Some even get so jealous that they can kill just to get what belongs to someone else.
Sometimes I wonder why people want what they want. If your motive is wrong, there is no way you will get what you want. Even if you kill everybody around you, the satisfaction will only be temporal.
We can get rid of these baseless quarrelling, back biting, and slander among us if we can learn to be content with what we have. If you admire another person’s success, work hard to be like the person. Ensure that you are also desiring that kind of success because you want to be useful to people around you. While you are doing all these, remember to be patient your time will come.
